The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is all about building bridges between education and industry, and a recent signing at Holy Trinity Catholic High School represents the beginning of an exciting new partnership.
Keegan Angelo, a Grade 12 student, has officially signed his Registered Training Agreement to become a Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer Apprentice.
A New Partnership
This signing is particularly special as Keegan is the very first OYAP apprentice to be signed by J.W.T Fire Protection Limited in Bradford. The company recently came on board as a new sponsor, opening their doors to mentor the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
This milestone moment was celebrated by a supportive group, including Keegan’s father, his Co-op teacher Ms. de Vries, and his employer, James from J.W.T Fire Protection.
Learning Across the GTA
Keegan isn't just learning in a classroom; he is learning on the job site. As part of his apprenticeship, Keegan travels throughout the Greater Toronto Area, helping to install vital fire protection systems. This hands-on experience allows him to master the technical skills required for this complex and safety-critical trade while still completing his high school diploma.
A Proud Community
The signing ceremony marked a significant achievement in Keegan's high school career. Ms. de Vries, James, and the entire community at Holy Trinity Catholic High School are incredibly proud of Keegan's work ethic and the professional way he represents his school in the workforce.
We look forward to seeing Keegan’s career ignite as he continues his journey in the skilled trades. Congratulations, Keegan!
