St. Joseph’s Student Sparks Future Career with Electrical Elite Inc.

Student: Oban Forrest School: St. Joseph’s Catholic High School Trade: Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) Employer: Electrical Elite Inc. (Barrie)

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is proud to celebrate the recent signing of Oban Forrest, a Grade 12 student from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School, who has officially become a registered Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprentice.

Gaining the Full Experience

Oban’s journey began with a Cooperative Education placement at Electrical Elite Inc. in Barrie. Unlike some placements that might be limited to one environment, Oban was able to get the full scope of the trade.

During his Co-op, he split his time between working at the shop and heading out to active job sites. This combination allowed him to learn the logistical side of the business while also gaining hands-on experience with installations and maintenance in the field.

High Praise from the Pros

Turning a Co-op placement into a registered apprenticeship requires a strong work ethic, and Oban has clearly impressed his team.

Steve, his employer at Electrical Elite Inc., had nothing but praise for the student. He described Oban as a "hard worker" and a "great kid," noting that he possesses the right attitude and skills to become a highly successful employee in the electrical trade.

A Community of Support

The signing took place at the Electrical Elite offices, marking a proud moment for everyone involved. Oban was supported by his mother and his Co-op teacher, Mr. Etmanski, both of whom have been instrumental in helping him navigate his path toward the skilled trades.

Congratulations, Oban, on powering up your career! We wish you all the best as you complete your apprenticeship.
